A former church in downtown Aurora caught on fire Friday evening.
The Aurora Rural Fire Protection District responded to the fire downtown around 7 p.m. The historic First Christian Church Building is located at 39 W. Pleasant. It is now a business.
Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the roof. Then the fire worsened, as flames shot through the roof. The roof eventually collapsed.
No word yet if anyone was inside at the time of the fire.
Several fire departments assisted.
