A blood sucking bug that has been predominately in South America has made its way to parts of the U.S.
A spokeswoman with the Springfield Greene Botanical Center says the “kissing bug” is about an inch long and feeds off people and animals. She says the bug can also carry a parasite that can lead to a serious disease.
So far there has been no known cases in the area of them carrying the parasite that causes Chagas disease.
