Major Traffic Impacts Due To Flooding Thursday Morning

UPDATE: Major flooding on I-44 near Phillipsburg has caused traffic to be directed off of the interstate near the 118 mile marker. Go Patrol spotters report a three-car crash happened in the westbound lanes around 9:30 Thursday morning. Other report there is water running over the interstate underneath the Phillsburg bridge, as well as creeping up to all ramps from the bridge onto I-44. Use caution when approaching the area or get off and take another route.

Dozens of roads are flooded in the Ozarks following severe storms and tornadoes that caused flash flooding overnight.

The National Weather Service says any low water crossing

Traffic west of Springfield will run into problems today, especially along Chestnut Expressway. Law enforcement reporting the road is blocked to vehicles from Haseltine Road to I-44, as well as near the Flying J, where several feet of water is over the road under the railroad tracks.

Highway 266 is shut down starting from Farm Roaf 97 west of Springfield. Highway EE is also impassable due to flooding.

In Springfield, traffic along Glenstone will be an issue this morning. Many reporting water over the road between Chestnut and Division. Glenstone is complete impassable at Blaine. Big slow downs along Kansas Expressway as well, with crashes and some intersections having flashing red lights. Law enforcement has also shut down Farm Road 156 between West Bypass and Briarwood.

In the Willard area, major slow downs near the intersections of Fr 115 and Highway 160 from a crash and flooding there. Big problems also on Highway 160 and UU towards Ash Grove. Reports of a house fire as well as lots of power lines down. SB UU completely blocked, as well as a tree partially blocking EB lanes onto 160. Highway 13 north of WW, coming out of Brighton standing water in outside lanes. There’s also been reports of flooding all along Highway AB.

In Republic, law enforcement blocking lanes EB Highway 60 near the Walmart. In Fair Grove, flooding and slow downs on Old Mill Road and Sunset.

In Laclede County, I-44 is slow going near the Conway exit, with water over the roadway near the 118 mile marker. A Go Patrol spotter also reports water under a bridge on I-44 near Phillipsburg.
