The city of Springfield is getting stricter on overgrown yards.
City council approved changes to a nuisance ordinance.
The new ordinance says grass over 7 inches is an issue. It use to be 12 inches high.
Landowners have 10 days to take care of the problem if they’re lawn is over city limits.
The city gets between 2,500 to 3,000 complaints each growing season.
If the city has to pay for mowing, it’s an average of $29 per hour plus fees.
