BRANSON, Mo – Hikers on the City of Branson’s trails will soon have a new tool to make sure they don’t lose their way, as the Branson Parks & Recreation Department rolls out new, convenient, interactive GPS maps of trails that can be pulled up on a smartphone with a quick scan of a QR code.
While the Parks Department hopes to eventually offer this service on all trails, the Department is focusing first on Lakeside Forest.
“We hear from people that they sometimes get lost, particularly in Lakeside Forest and its 140 acres and 5.3 miles of hiking trails. That’s why we wanted a quick and easy way for people to be able to locate where they are and how to get back to the trailhead.”
Signs with the QR code will be placed on the mile markers located along the trails. To access the interactive trail map, hikers just need to scan the QR code with their smart device for an easy to use application that will allow them to find their exact location while on the trails.
