Members of Springfield City Council gave unanimous approval for Galloway Village.
This would establish a special taxing district for the neighborhood.
Several business owners in the area had submitted a petition to create the district.
This will allow the new district to impose a sales tax up to one cent to pay for projects, including landscaping, additional parking and crosswalks, plus increased security services.
The tax would be on top of the current city sales tax.
