Missouri Licensing offices and agencies authorized to issue photo ID are preparing for a new requirement issued by the Federal Government in 2005, REAL ID.
In 2020, a new ID, called REAL ID will be required to do certain things like enter military bases, board airplanes, and enter courthouses.
The standard is designed to make facial recognition software easier to use and to allow greater anti-terrorism measures.
Missouri started offering REAL ID compliant cards on March 25th. Now it is up to local offices and agencies to comply.
Starting March 25 the state of Missouri will offer Real ID compliant state driver licenses. After Oct 1, 2020 you’ll need a Real ID to board an airline flight. A Real ID license will have a star on it (see graphic). More info here: https://t.co/XfATBvZSQa #sgf #springfieldmo pic.twitter.com/DSzRts0Bsk
