We’ve already had more than an inch of rain fall in Springfield since midnight Friday morning, and more showers and thunderstorms are on the way.
The National Weather Service says widespread showers and storms will develop, with the overall heaviest rain occurring Friday afternoon and evening.
Storm total rainfall amounts of 2.5 to four inches are expected, with localized amounts of six inches where training of thunderstorms occurs.
A few severe thunderstorms will be possible starting in the afternoon, with damaging winds the primary concern in some of the most intense storms.
The weather service says a brief, small, short-lived tornado and large hail are also possible.
