Springfield’s police chief has released his annual Uniform Crime Report to city council, and it shows increases in 2019 in two key categories: crimes against people and crimes against property.
Rapes, robberies and serious assaults all rose about 16% from 2018 to ’19, with the total number of crimes against people rising by 11%.
However, homicides dropped from 16 cases in 2018 to 12 last year.
The number of burglaries, thefts and and stolen vehicles each went in 2019.
