Prosecutors say a St. Louis Pizza Hut employee acted in self-defense when he stabbed a customer who was threatening him with a knife.

The stabbing occurred Monday night after a confrontation about missing items from a $60 delivery order.

A spokeswoman for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office says the 29-year-old customer showed up at the restaurant angry and ready to fight.

The man was able to get the workers to go outside, where he drew a knife and also informed them he had a gun.

One of the Pizza Hut employees then stabbed the customer several times with a kitchen knife.

Police say the man is expected to survive and referred first-degree assault charges to the prosecutor’s office for review.

The stabbing was determined to be a case of self-defense and charges were not filed.

Pizza Hut said in a statement that the franchise is cooperating with local law enforcement on this case.
