LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas has reported its largest one-day spike in new coronavirus cases, and the governor warns that he expects more increases in the coming week.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Friday that at least 11,547 people in the state have tested positive for the virus, an increase of 731 cases overnight.
Hutchinson said 3,764 of those cases are active, not including patients who have died or recovered.
Friday marked biggest one-day increase overall as well as among people who aren’t in correctional facilities.
The jump comes as the state prepares to further loosen restrictions on businesses next week.
