Man Catches 17-Inch Alligator On Lake Taneycomo

One man on Lake Taneycomo pulled in an interesting catch, finding an alligator.

Derek Marlin runs a fishing guide business called Firehouse Bowfishing and took a customer on the lake Monday night when they found what Marlin calls the catch of a lifetime.

Marlin tells KTTS News he though it could have been be a snake or a salamander, but that changed when they netted a 17-inch alligator.

The business owner from Rogersville says he believes the alligator found its way to the water when someone released it in the lake.

Marlin says the reptile has been rescued and rehomed since the alligator may not have survived in the cold waters of Lake Taneycomo.

When the alligator was put in warmer water, it practically came to life after being what Marlin describes as “lethargic” after being in the cold water for so long.

Marlin’s business has started doing fishing guide tours this year.

He says Lake Taneycomo never ceases to amaze him with how many species are in the water.
