Many folks across Missouri, Arkansas and other states in the central U.S. have taken part of their Thursday morning to observe the Great ShakeOut.
The annual preparedness drill focuses on how to be safe in the event of an earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone.
The zone is one of the country’s most dangerous for quakes, although its last recorded mega-quake happened more than 200 years ago.
It comes down to three simple steps: Drop to your hands and knees. If you’re able, cover your head and neck with your hands and arms underneath a table or desk, and hold on until the shaking stops.
