A 53,000 square foot travel center with 100 gas pumps could be going in soon in northeast Springfield.
Texas-based Buc-ee’s wants to build its first location in Missouri at I-44 and Mulroy Road, across the interstate from Peterbuilt.
City council took the first step Monday toward giving a green light to the project.
It could open as soon as June 2023.
Buc-ee’s has locations in Texas, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
Buc-ee’s calls itself the world’s largest convenience store.
Its website says its store in New Braunfels, Texas is the world’s biggest at more than 66,000 square feet.
It holds the world record for the longest car wash at 255 feet long in Katy, Texas.
It also claims to have the cleanest bathrooms.
