(KTTS News) — Authorities say they found a stolen car at the bottom of Lake of the Ozarks while looking for a missing person.

The Highway Patrol Dive team was helping with the search for Brian Byrd, a local defense attorney.

The vehicle that was found was a car stolen from Osage Beach in 2003.

Osage Beach Police say it’s not connected to Byrd’s disappearance.

Press Release

On July 12, 2022, while assisting the Camden County Sheriffs Office regarding a Missing Person investigation, what was presumed to be a vehicle was located by the Osage Beach
Fire Protection District who were utilizing sonar radar, submerged at the bottom of the boat ramp at All About Boats, 696 Passover Road.

On July 13, 2022, divers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Dive Team confirmed that it was a vehicle, however not the vehicle that is connected to the missing person.

The recovered vehicle, a 1997 Plymouth Breeze, had been reported stolen from a residence in Osage Beach in December of 2003.

It has been confirmed that there has not been a second vehicle located at the scene and all crews have cleared the area.

The Osage Beach Police Department was assisted on scene by the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Camden County Sheriffs and Prosecutors Offices.
