(KTTS News) — A school district in the Kansas City area has voted to move to a four-day school week.
The Independence School District made the change to retain teachers amid a statewide shortage.
Independence has more than 14,000 students, making it the largest school district in the state to switch to a four-day schedule.
The school board voted to make the change beginning in the 2023-2024 school year.
