(KTTS News) — Springfield-based Hiland Dairy Foods will pay $140,000 to resolve a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by a federal agency.
The lawsuit claimed that Hiland refused to hire a man to work at its facility in Norman, Oklahoma because of his vision impairment.
A doctor said the man was a safety concern even though he never met the man or examined him.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says Hiland did not consider whether any assistive devices or other accommodations would have resolved the safety concerns.
