(KTTS News) — A public meeting last night in north Springfield about the cleanup going on at the old Kerr-McGee Wood Treatment Plant.
The company treated railroad ties with creosote at the location for decades, dumping cancer-causing chemicals into the soil and groundwater.
But the director of the cleanup says tests show contamination levels at five of the properties they’ve tested are below EPA estimates needed for cleanup.
