This is the night for a rare sky event and we’re going have mostly clear skies, so we’ll be able to enjoy the sky show here in the Ozarks.
Tonight’s the night for the next Blue Moon. In fact, it is the second one of August, the first having occurred on August 1st and it’s being called a Super Blue Moon. Blue Moon refers to when two full moons happen in the same month. A Super Blue Moon is when a full moon is closer to Earth in its orbit. The result is a slightly larger and brighter appearance, according to Space.Com.
Tonight’s event will take place after just after sunset (roughly 7:45 p.m.). Should you miss tonight’s super moon, it will happen again in September 2024 and October 2024. The next super blue moon events won’t happen until January and March of 2037.
