(KTTS News) – Two Carthage teens are hospitalized after an illegal race on a rural road Sunday night.
The accident happened just east of Carthage.
A 12-year-old driver crossed the center line and struck the vehicle of a 14-year-old driver.
The 14-year-old went off the road, hit a tree, and overturned.
Both the 14-year-old and a passenger in the 12-year-old’s vehicle were transported with moderate injuries to Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
The crash is under investigation.
