(KTTS News) — The Springfield School Board has voted 4 to 3 to change its anti-discrimination policy, adding the words “gender identity and sexual orientation” to keep federal funding for school lunches.
It comes at the request of the federal government.
It has to do with who qualifies for free and reduced lunches.
The change is part of an effort to protect $7 million dollars in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The president of the school board says no child should be denied food because the district doesn’t comply with federal guidelines.
