(KTTS News) — A team of counselors will be on hand at Willard High School to help students cope with the death of senior Callista Fisher.

The Highway Patrol says the 17-year-old died in a crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 266 west of Springfield.

The driver of an SUV pulled out of a Dollar General parking lot and was hit by a school bus.

The bus then hit Fisher’s pickup head-on.

There were no students on the bus at the time.

The driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries.

The bus driver suffered minor injuries.

Statement from Willard Schools:

It is with deep sadness that we write to inform you of the death of Willard High School senior, Callista Fisher. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to her friends and family, and ask that you please keep her friends and family in your thoughts and prayers.
Tomorrow morning, WHS students will be read a statement informing them of Callista’s passing and to let them know of the resources available to help them grieve. Our crisis team of counselors will be on-site at WHS tomorrow and as long as needed to help students and employees process this great loss.
Our hearts are heavy, and we would like to extend our deepest condolences to all those affected during this incredibly difficult time.
