The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Tornado Warning for Northeastern Cherokee County and Eastern Crawford County in southeastern Kansas and Missouri
Western Barton County and Northwestern Jasper County until 315 PM CST.
* At 243 PM CST, severe thunderstorms capable of producing a tornado were located along a line extending from 7 miles north of Girard to Weir to 6 miles northwest of Galena, moving northeast at 30 mph. The line indicated three seperate rotations near Weir, Crestline and Farlington.
HAZARD…Tornado and quarter size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.
* Locations impacted include…Pittsburg, Prairie State Park, Carl Junction, Frontenac, Girard, Arma, Liberal, Weir, Mulberry, Chicopee, Mindenmines, Franklin, Arcadia, Asbury, Waco, Burgess, Croweburg, Yale, Farlington, and Crestline.

This Tornado Warning replaces the Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for the same area.
This line of thunderstorms is capable of producing tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
