Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has signed an executive order in preparation of the winter storm this weekend.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect through late Saturday evening to early Monday morning.
Heavy snow, ice, and freezing rain are expected for much of the state.
The executive order designates Missouri as being in a “state of emergency” to allocate more resources and waive certain restrictions to prepare for the weather.
The Missouri National Guard will be on standby to assist with winter weather response efforts as necessary. It also allows for Missouri’s adjutant general to activate state militia to assist residents in need.
The executive order also temporarily lifts hours-of-service requirements for truckers transporting heating fuels like propane and natural gas.
As the winter storm rolls in, people are encouraged to postpone travel for much of Sunday, if possible. For a closer look at MoDOT’s preparations, click here.
