We’ve been hearing more about black bears sightings in Missouri. Laura Conlee- a biologist with the Missouri Department of Conservation confirms that there has been a gradual shift and growth in the black bear population- beyond the usual habitat of the southern Ozarks south of I-44 –AND into places like Branson.
Conlee says if you come across a black bear? Make noise and back away, do not run.
A report from Missourinet say bears remember and come back to easy food sources.
The Department of Conservation has information on their web site about all cases of encountering black bears – and they want you to report bear sightings there too.
