Springfield Police sent 30 sexual assault kits to BODE, a private lab contracted through the SAKI grant, administrated by the Missouri AG”s office, in efforts to address the backlog of untested sexual assault kits.
A representative from AG Eric Schmitt’s SAFE Kit Initiative was at Springfield Police Headquarters to oversee packaging and delivery of those kits.
Springfield Police has been able to send 62 SAKs to BODE for testing, reducing the number of backlogged sexual assault kits held by SPD to 169.
SPD sent 30 kits in December of 2019, and two more in January of this year.
