A Springfield businessman is running for Missouri senate.

Brian Gelner is the owner of Heart of America Beverage.

He’s running for the 20th District Senate seat.

House member Curtis Trent is also running for the seat.

Incumbent Eric Burlison is running for the 7th district seat in Congress.

Gelner made the announcement on social media:

Today I am excited to announce that I am running for Missouri’s 20th State Senate District.

Jefferson City has too many career politicians only concerned with their own self interests.

We need more citizen legislators who will fight for conservative common-sense principles in the State Senate.

I’m a constitutional conservative, a father and a small businessman.

I’m tired of career politicians kicking the can down the road, passing todays challenges onto our kids.

I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work for the people of Missouri.

I look forward to meeting with you over the coming months to discuss my campaign and what we can do together.
