(KTTS News) — A woman from Springfield who pleaded guilty to her role in the 2015 stabbing death of her mother will be released from prison at the end of the year.

Gypsy Blanchard has been granted parole after serving at least 85-percent of her 10 year prison sentence.

Prosecutors struck a deal with Gypsy because her mother abused her for years.

Gypsy’s boyfriend, Nicolas Godejohn, is serving life in prison without parole after she convinced him to kill her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Blanchard and Godejohn fled the area after Dee Dee’s murder.

They were arrested in Wisconsin.

The story made national news and led to several documentaries and a mini-series.
