(KTTS News) — Two men have died after they were hit by a train in Carl Junction.

The Jasper County Sheriff says 24-year-old Dacoda Bittner from Webb City and 39-year-old Terry Long from Oronogo were hit Sunday near Highway 171 and Pennell Street.

Authorities say Bittner’s truck hit a concrete block near the base of a railroad bridge, but the men didn’t get off the bridge, even when the train sounded its horn.

Authorities say the two men may have been drinking.
