(KTTS News) — A former Marine from Springfield has died in Ukraine.
Ethan Hertweck, 21, went to Ukraine twice – once to train civilians, and the second time to fight alongside them.
Hertweck died on December 11, in what was supposed to be his last mission before he returned home.
Hertweck became a U.S. Marine at the age of 17, but was given an honorary discharge for a rare blood disorder.
The family has set up a donation page to pay for funeral expenses.
